As part of the HELLO KITTY 50th Anniversary global campaign that began on November 1, 2023, we created an AR app that features unique experiences in five major cities around the world: Tokyo, London, Paris, Taipei, and New York. Additionally, we developed a TikTok Effect that allows users to dance in sync with Kitty, as seen in AR.
HELLO KITTY AR
When users download the HELLO KITTY AR app and point their smartphones at landmarks, a giant Kitty appears, dressed in a costume designed for each city. She performs a charming dance, themed around #helloyou, in sync with her catchy “popcorn machine” song. Various motifs surrounding Kitty in AR are based on elements from Kitty’s worldview, all tailored to the respective country to celebrate Kitty’s 50th anniversary.

On TikTok, we have made the HELLO KITTY DANCE Effect available, enabling users everywhere to enjoy Kitty’s dance.
HELLO KITTY x UNIQLO
UNIQLO has released UT (T-shirt) and RELACO (pajama pants) commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty. By scanning a QR code at a UNIQLO store from TikTok, Kitty wearing one of the five newly released T-shirts appears and dances adorably above your head.
