Crunchyroll’s brand evolution
Creating New Design Fonts and Manga Visuals Inspired by Japanese Manga and Anime Culture

We has joined forces with Crunchyroll, a prominent global anime brand based in the United States, as a creative partner for its brand evolution initiative.

We embraced Crunchyroll’s vision of honoring the craftsmanship of Japanese manga and anime culture during this rebranding. As a globally active creative studio based in Japan, We participated in this project by creating Uniquely designed glyphs inspired by manga and anime motifs and developing visuals in collaboration with Japanese manga artists.

Design Font “Crunchyroll Glyphs”
Inspired by 16 unique expressions characteristic of manga and anime, such as “manpu” (manga symbols) and “onomatopoeia,” we have created over 100 originally designed letters (or glyphs) with Crunchyroll. These glyphs, when combined with Crunchyroll’s new brand font (ATYP), provide a simple yet effective way to convey the joy and essence of manga and anime that Crunchyroll aims to promote across various contexts.

Collaborative Visuals with Japanese Manga Artists
Based on four original storylines conceived by Crunchyroll, including battle manga and romance manga, we collaborated with four renowned manga artists—Hirofumi Neda, Tina Yamashina, Tomofumi Ogasawara, and Natsuo Sai—to create original manga. These works have been incorporated into various visuals used in the rebranding efforts, serving as a crucial element in establishing Crunchyroll’s new brand identity.
