Japan’s Daimaru department store celebrated its 300th anniversary in February 2017. To express its gratitude to customers for their loyalty throughout the years and to show its appreciation towards the next generation of customers, we helped Daimaru to install a special window display consisting of an oval-shaped device equipped with 800 moving parts, which are powered by the observer.
The 16.4 by 9.8 feet “Flower Mirror” was fitted with motion detection that tracked and mimicked the observer’s movements by opening and closing the 3,000 flower attachments. We also programmed the installation to display various types of shapes, patterns, and texts when on standby mode.
